If we are only hauling one, I will drive it up on except for our Farmall B. Many are aware that the brakes are of the band style and don't work with a darn when going backwards. I think as long as you have an even distribution of weight on the trailer it doesn't matter how it is parked. As far as safety is concerned, I hate to back a tractor up on because the tires need to grip the deck of the trailer to pull it up on. Those late nights at the pulls with wet grass...forget it. When you drive it up on, most of the weight of the tractor is on the trailer when the tires start gripping the deck plus the tread direction on the tires is doing its best gripping.
