That collar-shift/SynchroRange shifter set-up was a nightmare on all the Deere tractors once it got worn; not just the 2010. I almost killed myself coming down a steep mountain-side on my Deere 440A skidder. Had the same shifter. Popped into neutral, jammed, engine stalled, lost all steering and brakes, etc. Luckily I had bearpaw chains on all four wheels that kept me from rolling too fast. Also had a front blade to drop into the ground. But almost flipped over before I stopped since I could not steer.
Also, same happened to me on a run-away 3020. Lost all steering and brakes, couldn't get it into gear to slow me down, couldn't steer, etc. Jumped off going pretty fast. Hit the ground with my legs sideways and snapped both clear in two p and had to get part of my right leg re-attached. Got many steel pins, plates, and screws in me now -thanks to Deere's combo of that awful gear setups and . . . full hydraulic steering and brakes that do NOTHING once the engine quits. But to be fair, I was a Deere mechanic and knew that tractor was in bad shape - and used it anyway.
Now, if I'hd had a 2010, at least I could NOT have lost ALL the steering and ALL the brakes. THat being said, 2010 (AUSCO) brakes never worked very well, even when new.

Up to about 1958 the dairy cows were fed hay with some turnips and after that grass silage was the main winter feed. That same year was the last in which flax was grown on the farm. Flax provided the fibre which w
