You won't go wrong by getting the Hibernator from John Deere. The dry charged battery will be the freshest.
If you see batteries that are already filled with acid, look for the date code sticker. Exide and some of the others will have a little round sticker on the side or top of the battery, It will have a letter and a number on it. A is January, B is February, and so on. The number is the last digit in the year Number 1 will be 2001.
