Mike, you can also lace them with rawhide kinda like a tennis shoe, only a more complicated pattern. Try to find an Millwrights and Mechanics Guide by Audel publishing. try reference section of library. it takes some time but no tools other than a drill or hole punch. all the plants i know of use the wire splices and sooner or later they all have injuries to personnel from frayed wires.
