Sure, but usually a blown head gasket puts either puts coolant in the oil and/or leaks combustion pressure into the coolant. Ths is seen as bubbles in the coolant just after you shut the engine down. You're right though, dependng on exactly where the leak is you can have oil in the coolant, coolant in the oil, or even both! A cylinder leakdown test can be helpful in diagnosing a bad head gasket but doesn't usually help in finding a cracked block unless the crack penetrates the combustion chamber.
