I went thru the same thing you did and agonized over which one to get. I ended up getting the dish network. I had to have speedvision so I got the 150 channels and a receiver. Installed it myself and am very happy with it.
I made my descision by talking to a dealer I ended up buying the system from. He said 80% of the people that come thru his door buy dishnet and 80% of his mail order was directtv. I got the dishnet because at the time they had a promo on which when all was said and done, I got the receiver free and a months worth of programming.

Check carefully about which channels come in the packages. That may help you decide.
