you are saying no large animal vet closer than 2 hours away. do you have a neighbor that has cows? go talk to him and ask if he will come and go through calving a couple of them with you. breed your cows to calve after april 15 calves and winter ain't a good mix the first day or so.enough can go wrong without weather adding to it. maybe you could learn to artificial inseminate them. in past i have synchronized my cows that is i have gave them lutalyse and seders and to bring them into heat. that way cows will come into heat in a few days you can bred them all they will calve in a few days. ask if anyone on here can give you more technical support or buy a bull. my e-mail is open.
