8 days is gonna be tough no matter what you use. Start with a Big cardboard box.Freeze the meat HARD,sealed in plastic bags. layer it with Newspaper, frozen gel packs, More newspaper, then dry ice, then more newspaper. Styrofoam sheeting cut into rectangles and fitted into the box. Box within a box.Layers are your friend! Keeping cold things cold and dry is the key. Most ice plants can get it. Local grocer has it here. Aunt Ernice company ships med stuff frozen all the time.But your gonna have to improve on 8 days. Good luck!And good eating to your son! If it has a good smoke on it,even if it thaws it still should be good when it arrives if he can refrigerate it on his end.
