I also have DirecTV, but you really should check out www.dbsdish.com to see comparisons. You probably have different viewing habits than I do, so the reasons I chose DirecTV over Dish may not apply to you. When I got mine about 3 years ago, there was some concern that Dish might not be around in a year. That seems to have worked itself out.
