If you want to keep the tractor, use the oil filter. This provides the cleanest air for an engine known. Use engine oil, and keep the filter maintained. Tractor engines are made to operate in dusty conditions. If you don't care about the engine do like someone suggested, remove the filter and keep on truckin. I would run a compression check to find out if the rings, valves, or both are bad before removing the head. Worn valve guide seals will not show though. Leaking seals will show a low, or erratic manifold vac.
