Way back in the early 80s, my dad got an H for basically free that needed an overhaul. I completely tore the engine apart and whatever machine services that were needed, including turning of the crank and resizing of the rods was done at a machine shop. I got it all home, assembled it with all new bearings and at that time found out (via plastigage) that the reciprocating assembly had very little clearance. I warned my dad about it, but since the assembly turned over he said to not worry about it. (He was probably just too tight to do anything about it) We started it up and the oil gauge pegged. Hooking it up to a different gauge showed it to be about 80 psi at idle. My dad (who had high school mechanics back in the 30s) said to leave it and we were going to work it. It was about a year of hard use that the gauge would finally drop down to about 60 psi at idle. My brother still uses that tractor for buzzing wood and it still has high oil pressure. After a few thousand hours of hard use and troublefree service, I'm not going to touch it.
