If you lined up the the timing marks on the cam, and set the crank on the tdc mark, then the cam and crank timing is perfect, in relation to each other. Since the dist is run off a separate shaft called the auxiliary shaft, then it is the one to worry about. Just because the mark on the aux shafts pulley is lined up doesn't mean the dist hasn't been pulled and put in a bit off. That is why I said in my other post not to worry about the mark hear worry about the distributor.
Take the cap off, line the rotor to the number one post by turning the pulley(with the belt loose). With the cam and crank on their respective marks and the distributor pointed to number one it is real close to correct and should start.
