A 12 volt system will crank your tractor a whole lot faster than you ever imagined. A lot of people go to 12 volts so they can use an alternator which is a better charging system than a generator. Some problems going to 12 volts include deciding if you will use an alternator or a generator. Sometimes you have to do a lot of alterations to add an alternator. An alternator is negative ground where as 6 volts systems are positive ground. The points are made for 6 volts so a resistor is required to lower voltage to the points. A number of people in this forum in the past have said a 6 volts system should work well on a tractor like yours if everything is OK. You may want to think about why you want to change. It may be cheaper to fix an existing problem than to make the conversion.
