A lot of the tractors back then had smooth narrow rims that you jacked up each rear wheel and bolted this narrow slightly larger diamater rim to the existing wheel. The only draw back was man were they dangerously slippery. Many a farmer pjulling a thresher over the road in the hills took some very hairy rides. You still see some of these rings at tractor shows on their machines.
