I know what you mean about some of those counter guys. A while back I went in for a length of heater hose, and the guy asked me for what make and model! He didn't even know you could buy it by the foot!! One time I was there for an alternator, and I knew it wouldn't fit because of the clocking. "Pro," insisted, "That's what the computer says." It is important to try to find someone who isn't brain dead. The trouble with trying to frequent their business is, when you go back a week later, the place is usually closed, or a different business. Think they get tired of replacing the sign? Also a good place for belts is the local tractor/farm store, they usually have one of those measuring things on the wall, so you know for certain what size belt your getting. By the way, I'm a "pup" (kinda,29), and you might think I'm just brown nosing, but I really respect some "old timers." They do seem to be more willing to help ya dig out a part.
