For a quick chop rather than drag out the cutting tourch I just crank up the welder and use a 1/8th of what ever is handy. If I think ahead I drop a coupla welding rods in a can of water. That seems to cut a little more with a rod. We kept a hand full of rods in water for cutting out weld around high pressure pipe fittings for rewelding when we run low on what we called blow rod.
