my experience is from the other end of the engine- there are a bunch of varieties of 354s, as i found out when i needed a water pump for my fox chopper. the pump on my massey combine was different, and there were more alternative choices, the farther i went. this won't help your friend get his engine working, other than to say its an easy mistake to make.
