Met some buddies for beers at lunch on New Year's Eve. The server's boyfriend came in, they both discussed his job as a cop. He drank 2 to 1 to our beers, was not on duty, but had a 20 mile drive home. Mind you, we always stop at 3 -4 so as to not be DUI. He proceeded to tell us that most of the guys he works with drink, very normal for them to have "several" and then go on duty. Why do I have an issue with someone stopping me to see if I have been doing the same thing that they have been doing, but they think it is fine for them as they feel they are "above" the law? It is that rogue attitude that causes many issues surrounding law enforcement. A separate but serious issue is speeding. I know cops get driver's training, and their cars are higher performance, but a speeding vehicle is dangerous. If speed kills, then it kills. My point is that I see them all the time driving 10 plus over the posted speed, but they are not in chase, no lights or siren. I have been behind them and watched them pull in for lunch, stop at the bank, going to the hardware store, etc. It is somewhat like the fox guarding the henhouse.
