Basically you just need to ground the low voltage side of the magneto coil. This is easiest done by connecting a wire to the point connection then to a ground to short out the magneto. Some Wico type X mags have an external post for this purpose. I have seen other mag that have had a hole drilled to lead the wire out to a ground, but sealing around it can be an issue. I have added a ground post to mine by using insulating bushings that you can get at any Radio Shack store. It makes a neat water tight installation. Originally the tractor was shut off by turning off the fuel, letting it run out of kerosene.
