Hi Bill , The wire that you touched to the battery to excite the altinator , needs to have no current in it at all when the tractor is shut off. If it does , you will be slowly draining your battery. Otherwise it sounds like things are working for you. If you continue to have problems , let me know. I'll e-mail you a diagram of how to hook things up.
