The only ones who should have life long medical are the one that were actually in combat. After the Vietnam War the US went through the longest peace time period. A person could join the military and get out twenty years later without being in combat. How is that different than any other job? If they weren't in combat they could pay a minimum amount like an insurance premium, say $25-50 a month. How much money would that generate? Since I said that in response to whomever said they were going to pay their own way and i said they probably aren't, that they're being subsidized by someone. Here's one way they're subsidized. I know several people that the spouse takes single option insurance and the other spouse uses VA. How are the US tax payers, me included, not subsidizing them (some as little as $50 a month premium) when I have to take family at a considerably higher price?
