HalleluYah!
I called this man about a tractor he'd been advertising, and he says it's a Massey Harris 49, I've looked online and it seems that the closest I could find was the 44, He said that the number 49 was on the back of the tractor (I think he said it was stamped on), I have not gotten to take a look at it due to the weather (8 inches may not seem like a lot to some of you more northern folks, but add WV's hills and backroads, and it makes it rather unpleasant fishtailing up a hill). So here is all I know about it. It's a 4-cyl, 6v, pto, 3-point, narrow front end, "new" (meaning fairly good) rear tires, engine runs good, he also said that the sheet metal and the electrical system needed work.
What model(s) do you think it might be? How well suited to a working life would those models be? The man's asking $800 for it, you think it's worth it (if it is a "good engine")?
And a harder question, we have a front axle from an 8n and a wide front end off of an AC wd, I know I'd have to look at it to be absolutely sure, but would either of these possibly retrofit onto it?

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
