While in Halifax, Nova Scotia this past July I found out why they don't tip.
Our waitress told us that she makes $8.75 an hour which is way more than what they pay waitstaff in the states, they depend on the tips aswhere the Canucks don't have to as much.
It shows too because the service was horrible, I mean really bad as in slim to none and slim left to feed the cattle.
Oh and their excuse for everything was because of the Tall Ships festival that was in town, as if they haven't been having that festival for the past how many years?! They acted like it was a big surprise to them that it was there and it was so busy. What a joke.
