I"m using a slick solution for steel or concrete buildings; it"s a powerline Ethernet Switch from Netgear (XEB1004). If your sister"s house electrical meter is not too far from the electric meter for your shop, chances are good that this will work over your powerlines. In the kit you get 2 modules, one to plug into an electrical outlet in the house and connected to a cat 5 cable to her router. The other module plugged into an outlet in your shop with a cat 5 cable to your computer. And presto, if you are under 1000 feet, the internet connection in the shop will be almost as fast as it is in the house. This kit was $100 from Staples and it works great for me.
