Never owned Goodman but I had a new complete Maytag heat pump system put in several years ago and learned a some interesting facts. I recieved quotes and suggestions from 4 different companies. Maytag was the only system with a 10 year compressor, parts, and labor warranty. Even the highly advertised units only give 10 years compressor and 5 years parts, with only one year labor. I found that in direct conflict with their fancy and expensive TV ads featuring the guy in the derby hat. If you truly build the best, you can afford to place a strong warranty behind it. I heard all good things about Goodman, except from the guy that sells the highly advertised brand, he does not sell Goodman. You may be surprised at who builds the compressors for some of the highly advertised units. What you are really getting is the same compressors with a flashy unit and of course, that incredibly effective TV advertising. Why do we still believe TV ads when we have been dupped so many times?
