It's all in what you're used to. When we lived in MN near Lake Superior, it was not a big deal to get 36" of snow over three or so days. School didn't close, there was no rush in the grocery stores. All it meant for me was clearing the drive before going to work in the morning and then again when I got home in the evening.
When we moved to southern MO, that first couple of summers the heat just about killed me. I am still not fond of 90+ degree weather, but to some extent I've gotten used to it.
By the way, what helps with snow is having the equipment, manpower and experience to deal with it. I know a guy who works for the county here, I kid him about their little toy snowplow trucks.
