My 2N didn't have any grooves, and though they were well worn, they had never been replaced in 59 years of hard use. If you decide to keep the aftermarket ones, keep in mind they are sized just a little small, to compensate for a little spindle wear. I replaced my spindles, because the design of the spindle arm was later improved. To enlarge the ID of the spindle bushing, use one of those cheap (5 dollar) master cylinder brake hones in an electric drill. Took me about 5 minutes a side to get a nice fit. Hit em with a greas gun once in a while, and you should be good for another 60. Take Care Steve
