hi am in the process of doing the same thing to my 1952 ford 8n .i am using a slide hammer and mine is frozen also .i am doing this with my complete front axil still intact with just the front wheels removed. in my case there is probibly to much weight on the pivot pin.i have jack stands under my axil tightly so when i did manage to remove the pin the axil would not drop.i should probibly remove the left and right axil extension so the only thing still hanging is the center axil .with less weight on the pivot pin i am hoping i can remove it.good luck to you on your pin removal.if you receive any good ideals please e-mail them to me .Mark
