I knew I had seen a story about that tractor, 1959 Ford 871 Select-O-Speed, somewhere. It was in the 2000 American Farm Tractor Calendar. The story says that it was painted Gold for the first year of the "Select O Speed" transmission. It states that about 100 of these tractors were painted gold and given to dealers to draw attention to this new feature. The transmission was ahead of it's time, but easily abused and expensive to repair. It got a bad reputation for this and very few of the gold tractors exist today.
