There is nothing wrong with a 3 point drawbar as long as you understand its limitations. I do not know about the Oliver, but many tractors have no down pressure on the lift arms and you can just pick them up with your hands. For this reason you should run 'stay straps' from the toplink point on the tractor to each end of the drawbar. With the stay straps in place the lift is rendered useless as it will not go up or down without breaking something.
Also to prevent side to side motion you should have 'anti swy bars' which also mount from the ends of the drawbar, but connect on the tractor underneath each side of the rear axle.
By this time you will have about the same amount of money into the setup to justify buying a swinging drawbar in the first place... :-)
