Typically most MF's of that vintage don't use ATF as hydraulic oil. (AFAIK anyway)

MF "Permatran III" or equivalent is pretty standard trans/hydraulic fluids for MF tractors of that vintage.

Also (typically speaking again), if you put ATF in a hydraulic system not designed for it, it can cause the O-rings to swell up, stick and either freeze up control valves or commit other system mayhem.
