Had the same thing with my J.D. A . I took off my flywheel cleaned the flywheel splines and the crankshaft. Then I reinstalled flywheel with a little medium strength Lock Tite. Used lock tite because this was the 2nd time my flywheel was removed so I wanted to make sure it stayed this time.Leave a little end play so you don't burn the thrust up .003-.005 should work.Make sure your oil slinger pin and oil slinger is also in good shape and lined up.Might check the gaskets too behind the flywheel. Now with all this said it sounds like we had the same problem, but you need to make the call on the best fix for your tractor. This worked well for me and its holding good .I only use this tractor for a toy .So it don't see much use and has not had very much run time.Hoping to have no problems thou.Lots of good information gave on this forum and you should get some good replies.Pick up a manuel it will really help out alot as well. Welcome to the forum and hang in there.

Elliott said while this
