I spent one New Years Eve on Taiwan. The officers and Staff NCO's of our outfit were invited to a New Years Eve party at a Nationalist Chinese Air Force Officers Club.
The Chinese celebrate New Years with fireworks, and there were so many fireworks going off right inside the club that they had to stop the dance a couple of times to sweep the debris from the fireworks off the dance floor.
At one point, I went a block or two down the street to reload on fireworks, and from a block away it sounded like a full scale firefight was going on iside the club. I have no recollection of Christmas that year, but I'll never forget New Years Eve.
