Here in Iowa if you drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 26,000 pounds or pull a trailer with a rating of more than 10,000 pounds and a combination vehicle weight rating of more than 26,000 pounds you are supposed to have a CDL. I think if the vehicle weight rating is between 16,000 and 25,999 you have to have a chauffeur license.
