Most likely the computer thinks it a lack of oil pressure and has the injector not firing. Not sure if they still did the fuel pump or switched to the injector by 96.
Check oil pressure, if you can run it on a squirt of gas check when running. Fuel rail should be 40psi at a min, do not know exact number. Could be anything between 40 and 60.
Not sure what you mean, but if you hear gas gurgling and you think your loosing it, check the oil for fuel contamination.
That gurgling may just be the injector, however the V6 (4.3 Vortec) has plastic lines from the fuel connection on the back of the intake to the injector. Tough stuff and shouldn't but may have cracked or come loose. Can't say on the V8.
