My brother-in-law has fairly new tires & uses ladder type chains. Although much of the chain lays between the tires lugs, the chains still help. I posted the following message on the N board & thought it also aplied to this conversation.
I just bought a set of Duo-Grip(field type)chains from Quality. Their chains are made by Peerless. The quality is good, their price was much lower than I could get Peerless chains for elsewhere, and should this matter to anyone, Peerless chains are made in this country.
I checked with tirechains.com and after several e-mails gave up on getting any kind of specific information about their chains. And from what I'm told, they are not made here....Al English
