It probably just needs a shaft seal. If you are real experienced at it you can remove the old seal and replace it with a new one without removing anything, I think. If it is posible you can drill a small hole in the metal part of the seal and screw a sheetmetal screw in it and pull the seal out. Be carefull not to tip the new seal lip when putting it on the shaft and tap it in with a hammer. Don't do this unless you are comfortable with it or experienced. Good luck.
