The I-6 gas Jeep engines were discontinued for two reasons. One was they would have had to meet another round of emmisions controls. Two, was that with a V6, they could lean the grill back a little more to help meet the regs on the pedestrian strikes.
I take it back, the Liberty had a 4 or 5 inline diesel. They had the same V6 diesel as they started putting in the Sprinter available in the GC for a year.
