Don't remember the model, but I saw a program on Discovery about experimental aircraft. There was a vertical-takeoff plane in the 50's w/counter-rotating props on which the blade-tip speed went supersonic. The "sonic boom" from the blades would have all the ground crew down on their knees puking their guts out every time the thing took off. Needless to say, the concept was dropped.
