Has anyone gotten real sick working on a tractor?

A few years I was working on a tractor one hot day and something bit me, a few days later I was on a stretcher in the emergency room of my local hospital. I was completely paralyzed form head to toe, I could see but could not move my eyes, they were fixed straight ahead. I could hear people talking around me but I could not speak. The people at the hospital did not know what was wrong with me so they gave me some aspirin and put me in a room for several days, until I could walk and speak again. Anyone want to venture a guess on the ailment I was strickened with?
