We used a McCormick Deering 10-20 to fill our silo with corn silage for about 20 years. The trick is to use a long belt, say 20feet or longer so that the weight keeps it on the pully. Use some belt dressing, and keep the belt tight and not sloppy. Crossing the belt keeps it from slapping and helps deliver smooth power. My neighbor now uses a JD A on a 48 inch sawmill to cut Ash, Maple and other hardwoods. He uses a 35ft belt with no problems. Beltwork provides lots of satisfaction as you watch, and listen to the tractor work.
