Had an old neighbor that had about 6 acres of small pine trees he'd planted. The year they were about 3' tall several came up missing one night. The neighbor picked up several road killed skunks and 'bottled the fragrance'. He mixed this up in a pump sprayer with some "sticker oil" used to make insecticide sprays stay on fruit trees, and sprayed all the trees. More trees came up missing but made their presence known as soon as they were brought in out of the cold air. One apartment complex in town was perticularly affected.
