Got a big doe this morning. Not much to brag about, but I'm not a deer hunter--or at least so I've always said. I would rather run a trapline and the last few years I've gone west bird hunting during our deer season.
I must admit it was a rush watching her come my way. We can only use slugs and I made a poor hind-leg hit at about 60 yards. Tracked her for close to an hour, with a drop of blood here and there. I knew I hit her high because I was finding blood on grass 3-feet tall. I'm pleased with myself that I didn't give up looking.
Last year for slugs for me. I wanted to use my .357 Maximum, but couldn't find the right primers. Next year.
