If diesel does anything it could be leaving a layer of unburned oily soot on the exhaust seat. Careful about adding diesel to gasoline or two stroke oil to gasoline. Diesel and two stroke oil have a very low octane rating. With 87 octane gasoline it too easy for detonation/knocking to occur. There have been a lot of ruined engines taken apart with pounded rod bearings, scored cylinder walls, broken rings and burned pistons.And the damage was caused by detonation, not a lack of lubrication.
