3.2% moisture reduction to 15% costs 3.9 cents a point or 12.48 cents. Along with that there's shrink, 1.18% per point for moisture lost which is 3.776% and typically .22% shrink for handling loss like grinding in the augers and spillage and stuff like that to make the shrink 1.4% per point total or 4.48% shrink. That's what it takes here. So the dry bushels that they pay on are 4.48% fewer and then they charge 12.48 cents a bushel for drying. Then if its light corn they dock for light weight, and foreign matter and crunched corn. Some days it seems like its a wonder they take any corn at all this year.
