If you had a major problem it would be smoking.If he put in new rings it could take it a little while to seal up.Smoking would be a sign of a broken ring but it could also be a lot of other things.You will want to change the oil soon and use good Diesel oil.Theres nothing wrong with Shell Rotella.If it smokes a lot and burns oil after youve ran it a couple of weeks its probably not going to get better.Smoke by its self could be lots of things depending on what color,but burning oil is a sure sign there is something wrong.
