The crawler is a Lombardini Castoro C24. It is a 2 cylinder air cooled direct injected diesel of 1144cc, producing 24Hp.at 3000RPM. It has a hi/lo range hydraulic clutch into a 3 fwd./1 rev.(6/2) manual transmission. It has a live 540/910? rpm 1-3/8x 6 spline pto, an American Cat1 3 pt, and a manual angle bulldozer that was added in the U.S. by Buchli who made JD M & MC after market dozers. Approx. 30"W x 76"L x 40" H, 2800# w/o dozer; 3500# w/dozer. I was told by a (now deceased) equipment dealer that in 1957 Lombardini sent 4 to U.S. to develop dealer network , no takers. The machines were designed for vineyard use with a supplied rototiller. I have recently acquired a sales brochure from the Canada-Burton Co. on which they state that are exclusive importers, it is dated 1963. My dozer has X suffix tractor and engine numbers that apparently show it to be a 1957. As I know of only 4 of these machines in the U.S. (and only another 8-10 worldwide per internet) I am interested in trying to nail down it's history. In my contact with Lombardini (Italy) several years ago, a service rep. stated that he did not know of them ever having made a crawler. Their anniversary photo album just prior to their sale to Kohler shows several crawler prototypes in the 1950's. My machine still runs and steers and is a pushin' fool for it's size.
