It's hard for some folks to quit smoking. I quit every monday morning for a couple years. About 10 AM I'd race to the cig machine and smoke about four in a row. Every time I tried to quit, it seemed like I was just backing up for a running start. Finally quit on my birthday in 1976. I can run farther today than I could when I quit smoking. I have lost three brothers to cigarettes, and I think I'd be dead today if I hadn't quit. They get a hold on you - I still dream about smoking, and wake up worrying that I'll never be able to quit again, only to realize that it was a dream.
I think tomorrow is the "Great Smokeout" day - the day to encourage smokers to quit. A good day to say a little prayer for all who want to quit.
