If properly maintained/adjusted SOS will give good service.They do require a bit more care and understanding than gear tranny.Check w/Tony Jacobs and other on this board as to checking it out before buying and their knowledge of this tranny.They can tell you what to look for and look out for.SOS tractors usually sell much cheaper because of fear of problems and if necessary a SOS "bought right" can be converted to gearbox if necessary.I have owned an 800 series SOS and currently have a 5000 SOS.
