You missed a couple of the heaviest hitters-
Bill Gates has funded his charitable foundation with how many billions? (I don't know- do you have that information?) I don't consider Gates a "robber baron"- he simply invented a product that changed the way the world does business. He invented a better mousetrap, and I would be the last to hold that against him, or bemoan the billions he has made off of it. An interesting footnote on Gates- his father, Bill Sr., one of the premier lawyers in Washington, has taken as his personal campaign, the effort to re-institute inheritance tax on rich people. This from the father of the person who, as the world's richest man, will eventually have the largest death tax in the history of the world if his father is successful.
How about Warren Buffet? He is donating 40 or so BILLION to Gates Foundation, upon his death. Not ignoring his kids entirely- will leave them a few billion to get by on, but bulk of his estate going to charity.
